China Rethinking on Reentering Facebook Into Their Country?

McHugh, M. (2011, April 8). If Facebook Reenters China,
The article “If Facebook reenters China, how will it compete?” by Molly McHugh notes how Facebook was blocked in China and how Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg can make a compromise on an agreement so Facebook can be in China. Next, McHugh notes about Weibo, the biggest social media in China today. McHugh’s purpose is to tell us the facts about how Facebook stands in China and talks about Weibo’s standing in China and other social media sites. She concludes that Facebook will be going into China and competing with Weibo on becoming the biggest hit in China’s social media. McHugh points out the competition in China’s social media and facts about Facebook’s acceptance in China by creating a new site just for china. Then, she will discuss how Facebook’s new site will compete against China’s social media sites, especially Weibo. The writer of this article argues that even if Facebook gets an agreement signed and creates a new Facebook site, it will survive against Weibo and other social medias in China. McHugh conducts research and finds evidence with Marbridge Consulting and some blogs to find her facts on this particular crisis for Facebook. This article is useful to the world because it shows how Facebook is developing in other countries that normally do not allow social media as China is not very open to freedom of speech.
