In her article, “With over 36 million visitors, Facebook finally overtakes Orkut in Brazil,” Anne Heim discusses how Facebook has overtaken Orkut in Brazil by about two million more users.  ComScore’s managing director for Brazil, Alex Banks notes the struggle of Facebook from the beginning in reaching the goal of overtaking Brazil, the fifth largest population networks in the world. Heim claims that Facebook is the number one ranking network in Brazil and gives facts from comScore on why it is so popular compared to other social medias and Orkut, the first number one social media site in Brazil. Hiem researched with comScore in order to get specific facts on Facebook and Orkut. She also found graphs by comScore to illustrate the growth between 2010-2011 and talks with Alex Banks and his beliefs on if Facebook will grow throughout the world. This article is useful because it shows how Facebook is taking over Brazil and has overtaken Orkut social media. It gives us broad facts on how Facebook is affecting another country besides America.
